Why, of course, my friend!

People like Neil Gaiman (author of The Sandman series, and "American Gods", "The Descent of Anansi" and other novels) and Alejandro Jodorowsky ("The Incal" graphic series and novels like "El Niño del Jueves Negro" and "Albina y los Hombres Perro") are doing that all the time!

It´s a matter of talent, of course. And the only limit is your imagination.
References :
Sure. Once you are a successful published author, your editor is more willing to let you try other areas.
References :
Absolutely! Some bestselling authors are doing just that! Jodi Picoult has started writing Wonder Woman, Brad Meltzer has written JLA. Several other writers have started in comics and gone on to novels, such as the aforementioned Gaiman, Peter David, and Chris Claremont. And some have even come from TV and Film to write comics, such as Kevin Smith, Joss Whedon, and Jeph Loeb.
References :
By the way, John Grisham is a lawyer and an author

Of course you can!

There are a LOT of cross-over authors! Four examples: Neil Gaiman, Peter David (who did a lot of comics, including The Incredible Hulk, wrote Star Trek novels, and now has a series of books of his own), Alan Moore and Max Allen Collins. Check amazon.com and you'll find books and comics by all these fine writers!
References :
Comic book writing is becoming a big thing - even some mainstream authors have started writing them. There are several good books out there that give you a good overview of comic book writing. Check some of them out and see if it's for you.
yeah, it's not illegal. you could write, draw comic books and work as a lawyer if you really wanted to. but it'll be hard to do.
good luck.
